Pluralist democracy
WHAT IT IS: ◦power rests with competing interest groups. no one group dominates political decisions. Examples: ◦Interest groups like NRA, AARP ◦Can be seen as factions inside of political parties as well |
Elitist Democracy
WHAT IT IS: ◦a small # of people, usually wealthy and well educated, influence political decision making Example: ◦Electoral College voters (participatory) pick electors (the elite) |
